The extraordinary Bletterbach gorge (Plateau)
Lahner di Aldino shepherd’s hut - forest trail - canyon - waterfall - Lahner di Aldino shepherd’s hut

The history of the Dolomites began around 250 million years ago, when the volcanoes covered this area with lava. You can relive this history by visiting the Bletterbach gorge. First of all, you have to make a 20 minute car journey to the Lahner di Aldino shepherd’s hut. Your adventure starts on the upper forest trail. Walk down to the slope of the canyon. Then continue upwards along the Bletterbach stream until you reach the waterfall, whose waters fall into what was once the vent of the volcano. Climb back up again using the convenient steps and return to the Lahner hut passing through the woods.

To the south-west of Nova Ponente, in a delightful, peaceful location, we invite you to stop at the Laab shepherd’s hut, where you will also find a small restaurant. To reach here, walk along the Daumstrasse (1), along the Laabweg (1) and partly walking on the main road, slightly uphill (around 300 m in altitude). You can also get to the Laab hut by car (2 km). Closed on Mondays.The Laab hut is also a departure point for marvellous hikes and walks, for example to the Neuhütt hut, the Jochgrimm, the Weisshorn, Pietralba, and Lavazé.

Take the car to the Wölfl farmstead in Nova Ponente. From here walk through the red spruce forest passing in front of the Tschingger and Nopp farmsteads along the Spörlboden. – we recommend a visit to the splendid panoramic viewpoint of Rotwand. Proceeding towards the Klaus shepherd’s hut across the Wachtspitz start to descend towards the Schneiderwiesen, where you can stop for a short rest and where you can have something to eat and drink if you wish. The follow the footpath marked 1 until you reach Bauernkohlern, and then footpath 4a across the Wolftal until the Spörboden and then the E5 until you reach the Wölfl farmstead.
