My Yoga retreat in the Dolomites

I arrive and settle in
Even the drive to Nova Ponente sets the tone for my yoga retreat in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. The road winds gently upwards, flanked by lush green meadows and mystical forests. On the horizon rise the peaks of the Dolomites, above them the boundless deep-blue sky. Pfösl is my yoga hotel in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, and its location could not be more beautiful. On the high plateau of Nova Ponente I breathe in pure mountain air, see nothing but unspoilt nature, am surrounded by soothing silence and immediately feel at home. Nature also sets the tone indoors. From the moment I step through the door, the calm and welcoming atmosphere of the house embraces me. Spacious, light-filled rooms in harmonious natural colours allow indoors and outdoors to merge seamlessly.

I centre myself
At the core of my yoga holiday in the South Tyrolean Dolomites are the yoga classes held nearly every day. The insightful yoga teachers at Pfösl enable me to try a different style of yoga every day.
Prana Vinyasa Flow helps me get back into my flow by connecting brea
th and movement. In Yin Yoga I learn to let go and open my meridians. Kundalini Yoga sets my life energy in motion again. Hatha Flow Yoga combines the strengths of Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga and can be either energising or relaxing. Wyda, the “yoga of the Celts”, connects me with the wisdom of the ancient Druids.
The yoga sessions are rounded off with breathing exercises, meditation sessions and mantras.

I connect
No yoga weekend in South Tyrol, and certainly no retreat - would be complete without the life-giving connection with nature. There are countless opportunities for this all around Pfösl. Each season has its own charm: the snow-white idyll of winter, the powerful blossoming of spring, the energising warmth of summer and the calming play of colours in autumn. Far from crowds, city noise and smog, eyes, ears and lungs get a well-deserved break here. I can set off on foot or go jogging wherever the mood takes me and let my curiosity lead the way, or even join guided activities such as hikes and bike tours. While forest bathing, I sense a deep connection with the soul of the forest and draw on its primal strength.

I ground myself
The detox and Ayurveda treatments at Pfösl, a wellness and yoga hotel in South Tyrol, gently and naturally support my body and mind in relaxing, detoxifying and restoring balance. The chakra treatment with singing bowls and crystals harmonises my energy centres; the meridian treatment sets my life energy (Qi) flowing, balances deficiencies and blockages, and activates my self-healing powers. The Ayurvedic treatments, whether a foot, head or full-body massage, are tailored precisely to my constitution. Herbal stamp massage, oil pouring on the forehead or stimulation of the marma points have an intensive and lasting effect. For a particularly holistic wellness experience, I treat myself to one of the Pfösl rituals, which include several treatments as well as yoga and meditation sessions.

I nourish myself
Food is medicine. What we consume every day is the building material from which our body creates its cells. Nutrition is therefore one of the simplest ways to positively influence our health. At Pfösl, during my yoga holiday in the Dolomites, South Tyrol, I exclusively enjoy fresh, wholesome dishes made from high-quality, largely local and seasonal ingredients. Even with a vegan, lactose-free or gluten-free diet, I always find something suitable here. Breakfast, a sweet afternoon buffet and a multi-course gourmet dinner are included. My hosts’ herb gardens and raised beds encourage me to explore their scents and discover new flavours. And as part of my yoga retreat in Italy or special fasting days, I also discover the many benefits of alkaline fasting and other dietary approaches.

I regenerate
We spend roughly a third of our lives asleep. Science is still unravelling exactly what happens in our body during this time and which vital processes depend on sleep. During sleep, the body detoxifies, stores new knowledge and processes experiences and emotions; the immune system is strengthened, hormonal balance and metabolism are regulated, and the heart and blood vessels are relieved. That is why I pay particular attention to the quality of my sleep on holiday - yet at Pfösl, a wellness and yoga hotel in Italy, that is certainly not difficult: The mountain silence and fresh air, together with the subtle, clean-lined interior in high-quality natural materials, allow body and mind to relax immediately. The gentle shades of brown and green and the warm, dimmed lighting in the rooms seem to merge with the beautiful view of forest, meadows and the setting sun.

At the end of my yoga retreat in the Dolomites I return home with many new impressions and inspirations. I feel rested and grounded. I can then face the challenges of everyday life strong and centred.
